The heart of our family kitchen
Our journey began with the rich tapestry of our family's diverse cultures, spanning many years and traditions. The vibrant Mexican culture, a significant part of our daily lives, deeply influences many of our menu choices. It all started with my father's mother, Grandmother Guerrero, whose daily home-cooked Mexican meals, from savory tamales and fresh corn and flour tortillas to delicious carne asada, filled our home with warmth and flavor.
Generations of culinary traditions
On my mother's side, the German-Dutch influence shines through in large family gatherings, much like those on my father's side. Homemade breads, hearty soups, comforting stews, and delightful desserts were traditions lovingly passed down from my great-grandmother Hawkins-Deckard and my grandmother Deckard-Bell. From my grandfather's side, we inherited the elegance of French cooking from my great-grandmother Estes-Bell, who shared a wonderful array of pies, desserts, and sage advice about how the world had changed since the early 1920s. These influences, and the constant presence of cooking, shaped our daily lives and ignited our passion.
Our signature flavors
Among our wonderful offerings, the pretzels hold a special place, a beloved bread item from our German-Dutch great-grandparents and grandparents Deckard-Bell. Our hand pies are a delicious take on empanadas, a cherished recipe from our great-grandmother Guerrero on my father's side. My father, a butcher for Kroger for many years, also mastered preparing in-ground steam pits to cook pigs, beef, and goats until they were wonderfully smoky and tender! Our grandparents, Deckard-Bell and great-grandparent Estes-Bell, instilled in us the invaluable knowledge of gardening and crafting homemade meals, soups, breads, and desserts of all kinds. Our Fizzy Pops are a fresh and exciting concept, embracing current food trends, and we aspire to add homemade ice cream and other delightful treats as our business grows.
